Homey Bridge en Energy Dongle

Taking my smart home beyond Hue and Apple Home

I have been using smart home devices for years. It started with Philips Hue, now part of Signify, back when it was only available through the Apple Store. I have been a fan, and over time I added more lights, sensors and switches.

Hue and Apple Home have worked well for me, but I want to go further. I want to bring devices from different brands together and make them work as one system. After looking at the options, I chose Homey.

I installed Homey Self-Hosted Server on my Proxmox cluster, using the LXC container Homey provides. I also bought a Homey Bridge to connect supported smart devices and an Energy Dongle for the P1 port on my smart meter. That will let me follow my energy use in Homey too.

I’m still at the beginning. I have a few ideas for automations, but first I want to connect the devices I already have and see how well they work together. I’m curious where it will take me.
